Guin Amant is the son of a pilot and talented archer, so he is familiar with adaptive space. He reveals to us that shooting arrows is not a game of skill, for the target is only a destination. It is the journey through time and space that truly matters. The synchronicity of the taught bow and the arrow’s extension of the body in a concentration of forces is what his work is about. Guin Amant does not work from an easel. He stretches his canvas on the floor and walks around it. Successive layers of paint are applied with brushes or bare hands to penetrate the thickness of the material. After experimenting with video in the current trend of young artists, he returned to paint to explore the qualities of material that would allow him to express himself without limitation. Because life is a journey, because every being remains unique despite experience and multiplicity; the artist feels compelled to work in series in order to explore the phenomenon commonly regarded as the course of time.
Guin Amant lives and works in Paris and Provence in France.
